If you have been furloughed or lost your job by no fault of your own, you may be eligible to receive a free Type Rating or a Recurrent event through the US Dept. of Labor’s Workforce Investment Act. In this episode, we will speak to a WIA Specialist and find out what this program is all about.

    THIS IS NOT TRUE. It depends on what state your in. In Arizona (Which Cal is from in the Video) requires that you MUST HAVE A JOB OFFER CONTINGENT UPON YOU GETTING THE TRAINING. In AZ if you can't get a company to offer you a job you can't get WIC assistance. Additionally, you will only get around 4,000 in AZ - if you can even get it. I have over 5,000 hours of PIC and 2 type ratings, have not flown for a year and was looking to just get current (not Airbus and 737 type ratings like everyone says you can get) but AZ will not approve even a simple recurrent checkride.

    WIC is a joke. It is a government program that the states have control of. Im of course speaking of Arizona specifically, I hear New York state gives B757 type ratings to anyone that can describe what an airplane looks like.

    Don't buy what Cal says. It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to get assistance for training. It is mostly a ADVERTISING PLOY for struggling flight schools.
